EL HIERRO
Come to El Hierro, a unique destination located in the most southwestern point of the Canary Islands.
It is a place filled with nature in its purest form: it has been a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve site for the last two decades, and more recently it was included in the Global Geopark Network thanks to its geologic heritage. With environmental preservation as a core policy, the island has become self-sufficient by building its own hydroelectric plant.
Once here, you can visit unique landscapes: ancient wind-twisted junipers, Laurisilva forests and Garoé, a sacred tree that provided life-saving water in times of drought. These settings are extremely well preserved, as close to their original state as possible.
While you might decide to never leave the house
(and no one could ever blame you), there’s plenty to see and do if you venture out.

Sports and Adventure
In El Hierro you will have the opportunity to practice a great variety of outdoor sports in privileged settings. You will experience rich forests, sea cliffs, lava features and an exuberant coat of vegetation. Perfect location for for scuba diving, trekking or paragliding.
You can enjoy diving in the clear waters of La Restinga marine reserve with deep underwater cliffs, caves and volcanic features and cool yourself with a dip in a natural seawater pool in El Charco Azul or discover hidden beaches with red and black sand.
Gastronomy
In El Hierro you can try new culinary flavours and sample award winning wines that are the product of the generosity of the land and the skills of the local experts.
Their famous cakes “Quesadillas” will surprise your palate, as will the local smoked cheeses. Local restaurants will surprise you with the freshest produce, specially fish and the most aromatic tropical pineapple.
Stars and Constellations
The Canary Islands are set in an exceptional location, one of the best in Europe, for star gazing. Thanks to the quality of the sky and the low level of air pollution in El Hierro you will be able to experience amazing starry nights.
El Faro de Orchilla makes for a perfect setting for sunset watching followed by an attempt to catch the constellation of Taurus.
